FAQs
What services do you offer?
Weddings, Commitment Ceremonies, Baby Naming Ceremonies, Mother's Blessings and Vow Renewals. Please refer to my 'Services' page for greater detail on each of these.
How long have you been a Civil Celebrant?
I have been registered since 2014.
Do you like it?
I absolutely LOVE being a celebrant. What an priviledge to be there for these incredible moments in a persons' life!
Where do you travel to?
My registration is Australia-wide so I'm happy to travel anywhere in Australia to be your celebrant! As I am Brisbane-based with a young family, I mostly service Qld from the Sunshine Coast to Northern NSW. I have a travel fee listed on my fee structure, please send me an email for more information.
How much do you cost?
There are many variables in determining how much I charge for a ceremony, time, date, location, ceremony type, paperwork requirements, travel etc. Local (Brisbane) weddings start from $700, however I am now offering a 'no frills' wedding ceremony that is basically just legal wording for 2 people and 2 witnesses for just $350. Please contact me for more information if you're interested in either of these. Vow renewals, Baby Namings and Mother's Blessing Ceremonies are sometimes subject to package pricing, please send me an email if you're interested in one of these ceremonies.
Can we do a surprise wedding?
Absolutely! Planning surprise weddings for your guests is just so much fun and something I love to do. You can not legally surprise your Bride or Groom however, just your guests.
We're engaged! What's next?
Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS! What a beautiful and exciting (sometimes stressful) time for you both! Firstly you need to find a celebrant that is a perfect fit. You will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage form a maximum of 18 months and a minimum of 1 month prior to your wedding date. You will need specific ID documents to complete this form and your chosen celebrant will guide you through this.
Will you dress to our theme?
Yes, you bet. You tell me the theme and I will dress to it as best I can (at least I'll give you some options to choose from). If you are having a 'dress up' wedding or ceremony that is VERY specific I will likely ask you organise something for me to wear.
How do I write my vows?
Writing vows can be incredibly difficult at first. I have a template of ideas I send to my clients to help them get started, but for anyone else who is struggling to write their own vows, here are a few prompter questions to get the ball rolling that I have found helpful in the past:
-Why do you want to get married to this person as opposed to someone else?
- Why do you want to get married rather than just be together?
- How do you know this will work, that you are each other's forever person?
- How does your relationshipmake you a better/stronger/happier/healthier/best version of yourself?
- What do you look forward to most about coming home to that person?
- What can you and ARE you able to promise without doubt to that person regarding your intentions and your future together?
